Last night at her wedding reception, Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan was heard softly asking her dad to correct the paparazzi on how they were pronouncing her name.

Ira Khan is very particular about her name's pronunciation.

Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare’s wedding, and the multiple functions leading up to and following it, have provided heaps of photos for fans to scroll through. At their wedding reception in Mumbai on Saturday evening, the who’s who of Bollywood, including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, showed up to bless the newlyweds. But one moment at the red carpet caught the public’s attention.

Last night at her reception, Ira and Nupur posed together for the photographers, while her dad Aamir Khan was seen playing the role of an ‘AD’ (assistant director). After Ira and Nupur got done with one round of photos, she turned to her father and asked him to tell the photographers the correct pronunciation of her name: ‘Eye-ra’. The paparazzi had been calling out ‘Ee-ra’ instead. “Dad, ask them to pronounce my name correctly,” she said, and Aamir told the photographers, “Eye-ra, Eye-ra.”

Aamir Khan was seen helping Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare as they posed for papparazi together for the first time as a couple. He said, “Today I have turned into an AD.”

Back in April 2021, an irate Ira shared a video of herself teaching the paparazzi on how to correctly pronounce her name. “Ira. Eye-ra. Nothing else..,” she wrote then, and also used the hashtags, ‘enough is enough’ and ‘swear jar’.

In the clip, Ira revealed that her friends were teasing her about the mispronunciation. She explained how her name should be pronounced. She added that anyone who mispronounces would have to put Rs 5000 in a swear jar which she would donate at the end of every month or year.
