Deva: Shahid Kapoor, Pooja Hegde’s box office dud gets OTT release; here’s when you can watch it online

Deva OTT release: The Shahid Kapoor-starrer action thriller Deva is all to release on streaming. After a disappointing theatrical run that began on January 31, the film is now set to premiere on Netflix. The streaming platform took to its official Instagram account to share the details.

Deva, which marks Rosshan Andrrews’ Hindi directorial debut stars Shahid in the role of a cop, along with Pooja Hegde, Kubbra Sait, and Pavail Gulati in supporting roles. On Thursday, Netflix India shared the poster of Deva on their Instagram account and wrote the lyrics of a song from the music album of the film, “Bhasad macha 🥁🥁🥁 Trigger chala 🚨🚨🚨 Deva aa raha hai 🔥.” The poster reads the OTT release date of Deva as March 28.

In the film, Shahid plays ACP Dev Ambre, a man who loses his memory while trying to solve his best friend’s murder. Pooja plays his lover, a reporter named Diya Sathaye. Deva is also said to be the remake of 2013 Malayalam movie Mumbai Police ‘with modified climax, and refinement of narration & screenplay’.

SCREEN’s Shubhra Gupta gave the film Deva 1.5 stars and wrote in her review, “Shahid Kapoor film is dragged down by loose threads, long slack stretches. There are at least a couple of instances when Shahid Kapoor does come alive, reminding us of the actor that he can be. Both are scenes in which he allows his character to be vulnerable.” Shahid has delivered two back-to-back flops after starring in the blockbuster Kabir Singh. Before Deva, he headlined the Hindi remake of Jersey. Between films, he made his series debut in Raj and DK’s Farzi, released on Prime Video.
