Baby John box office collection day 4: After witnessing a consistent decline in its collection, Varun Dhawan’s Baby John saw a slight jump in its box office performance on Saturday. According to Sacnilk, the film raked in Rs 4.25 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 23.90 crore. This increase comes despite reports of several shows being canceled.

Baby John began its box office journey on Wednesday with an underwhelming opening, earning Rs 11.25 crore despite the holiday. On Thursday, the film’s collection dropped sharply by 57.78 per cent, minting Rs 4.75 crore. The downward trend continued on Friday with a further 23 per cent dip, as the film collected Rs 3.65 crore. However, Saturday marked the first upward surge in its earnings, a much-needed boost for the film. Despite this slight recovery, Baby John is facing stiff competition from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2, which continues to dominate the box office even in its fourth week. On the same day, Pushpa 2 minted Rs 12.5 crore, showcasing its strong hold compared to Baby John.

Varun Dhawan’s previous theatrical release, 2022’s Bhediya, performed notably better than Baby John. In its first four days, Bhediya had earned Rs 32.4 crore, surpassing Baby John’s current total of Rs 23.90 crore. Directed by Kalees, Baby John is a remake of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil film Theri. The film features Varun Dhawan in the titular role, alongside Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Zara Zyanna, and Jackie Shroff.

In addition to its lackluster box office performance, Baby John has also received an underwhelming response from critics. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave the film one star, writing, “After sitting through this bloated, cacophonous, derivative, incoherent mess, you feel like telling lead actor Varun Dhawan, who is all wrong for this kind of film — cameras can help him do the slo-mo swagger thing, but his delivery is fit only for low-fi comedies — that he needn’t have bothered. Baby John bids fair to claim the title of the worst film of 2024, a year when big, starry Bollywood tanked well and truly.”
