Ayaan Agnihotri calls his uncle Salman Khan ‘loving and funny’: ‘There is always so much to learn from him’
In a recent interview, Ayaan Agnihotri opened up about his uncles Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan.

Salman Khan’s nephew Ayaan Agnihotri, who is the son of Alvira Agnihotri and actor Atul Agnihotri, recently opened up about the thought process of his uncles Salman, Arbaaz and Sohali Khan. Calling Salman loving and funny, Ayaan also revealed the Sikandar actor’s best life advice for him.
In an interview with India Today Digital, Ayaan, who is known by the stage name Agni, revealed that his uncle Salman is only tough when needed. “It’s a beautiful balance of all love and also being tough. He has never let us feel that we have got it easy. He did not let it get in our heads that things would be easy for us because other members of the family worked hard and made it. Mamu also told us that this may not be the reality for us. We may work hard and not make it. So we cannot feel entitled and disappointed. Rather, we should just work towards doing what makes us happy. He told us that we should be willing to commit to our life regardless of whether we succeed or fail,” he said.
The musician was also asked if Salman makes the children in the family sit down for motivational conversations. He replied, “It has happened at family lunches or dinners or when we are spending time in Panvel (the farmhouse). There are times when he expresses himself to us and tells us what he is feeling or thinking. It could be about what has happened in his life or what’s going on. There are no sermons, but he likes to express or introspect out loud to us about life, and how things and people are. There is always so much to learn from him, and he wants us to know better. He’s always asked us to focus on the basics and be good. He has always asked us to be the best to people who want us to be bad to them. That is the greatest response to them.”
Ayaan Agnihotri further added that his uncles Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan are also supportive of the younger generation. He shared, “Sohail mamu has been like a second father to us for a very long time. He always takes out time for us. You can just pick up the phone and call him to talk about anything, without the fear of being judged or being told no. If it’s within his capabilities, he will do everything for us.”
Ayaan continued, “Arbaaz mamu too has been very supportive. I am sure people know the story that we went to Nana (Salim Khan) and asked him if I should become a singer or a cricketer. When Nana said cricketer, mamu asked him if he had ever seen me play cricket. So Nana told him, ‘But I have seen you sing’ (laughs). So when I started out, he told me that at least someone in the family can sing and is pursuing the dreams that all of us had at some point.”
