Ambani wedding: Atlee directed special movie for shaadi, Amitabh Bachchan narrated it; baraat went on for 8 hours with superstars giving mini concerts

The wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant garnered global recognition for its extravagance. Held across multiple days last week, following months of pre-wedding parties across the world, the wedding saw the who’s who of films, politics, business and sports in attendance. Also present at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai were several social media personalities, who provided plenty of inside information about the festivities.

Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, who was also present on all three days of the celebrations, spoke to comedian Akaash Singh on his show, as they discussed their experiences at the wedding. They revealed that the ‘baraat’, which consisted of several major celebrities, proceeded along a huge pathway that had multiple pitstops along the way. “They had a long road built out, and stations along that road. And on each of the stations was one music superstar,” Allahbadia said. “I’ll never get over the stations. At a normal wedding, you just walk with the whole crew and go forward. But here, the crew was stopping at every station, having a mini concert, the artist was vibing, and everyone in the baraat was also going crazy.”

They also spoke about how approachable major Bollywood personalities like Karan Johar, Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan and Sonakshi Sinha were at the wedding, and that the Ambani family was meeting each and every guest individually. Describing the venue, Akaash Singh said, “They took a convention centre, and built a city inside that convention centre. Every part of this city looked like a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set. It looked like old, beautiful India that you see in the movies. There are four different floors, and every floor serves a unique purpose that is beyond just a wedding.” Allahbadia added, “On day two of the wedding, they released a 10-minute movie, within the wedding, for the wedding guests. It was directed by Atlee, and the voiceover was done by Amitabh Bachchan. It was a micro-movie for the wedding.”

Everyone from Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, to international stars like Kim Kardashian and John Cena attended the wedding. The couple’s pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar saw people like Mark Zuckerberg in attendance, while Rihanna was lured out of retirement to perform a special private concert. The wedding saw singers like Justin Bieber, Rema, AR Rahman, and others performing their hit songs.
