Akshay Kumar is all set to make his Telugu debut with the film Kannappa. The film also marks reunion with his 1994 film Elaan’s co-star Madhoo. The onscreen couple are working together after over 20 years. The actor shared the stage with his old co-star at the trailer launch of the upcoming film Kannappa on February 27. During the event, Akshay expressed his happiness of working with her again.
While talking about Madhoo, Akshay Kumar said, “Mujhe aaj itti khushi hui hai ki main Madhoo ji se milla hu, maine ek film inke saath ki thi she played a lead role with me, a film called Elaan, I know I didn’t forget the name. Zaalim bhi ki thi, so today I am very very happy, I am meeting her after 20 years or something but you haven’t changed at all, you look the same (I am so happy to meet Madhoo ji today. I did a film with her. She played my lead role in Elaan… We also did Zaalim together. I am very, very happy. I think I am meeting her after 20 years or so).”
Akshay went on to add, “And I told her also, aisa lgta bilkul change nhi hui hai, aisa lgta hai raat ko fridge main jaak so jaati hai (It seems she goes into the fridge at night to sleep)”.

Akshay’s Telugu debut film Kannappa will see him playing the role of Lord Shiva.
The film Kannappa, revolves around the devotion and sacrifices of Kannappa, a staunch devotee of Shiva, and his journey to attain divine grace. Vishnu Manchu plays the titular role in the film with Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Preity Mukhundhan, and Madhoo in supporting roles. The film also stars other renowned actors such as Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Kajal Aggarwal in guest roles.
The Telugu-language historical drama Kannappa is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu. The film is inspired by the legend of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology.
