After months of speculation that Akshay Kumar-starrer Oh My God 2 aka OMG 2 might release on OTT instead of theatres, the actor shared the happy news that the film has finally got a release date for cinemas. Akshay shared a striking new poster of the film and invited all to come to the theatres. The film will clash at the box office with Rajinikanth’s Jailer and Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel starrer Gadar 2, which are also supposed to come out on August 11.

Akshay can be seen dressed as Lord Shiva in the poster and wrote, “आ रहे हैं हम, आइयेगा आप भी (We are coming, you also come.)11th August. In theatres. #OMG2.” The actor sports long tresses like the Hindu god and sports a damru (a two-headed drum) in his hand.

The film, which is a sequel to the 2012 released film, OMG, starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, is also important as Akshay Kumar has seen a series of flops in the past with films like Selfiee, Bachchan Pandey, Ram Setu, and Samrat Prithviraj. His film Bell Bottom and Raksha Bandhan also underperformed at the box office.

Earlier announcing the film, the makers wrote, “‘कर्ता करे न कर सके शिव करे सो होय ..’ 🙏🏻Need your blessings and wishes for #OMG2, our honest and humble attempt to reflect on an important social issue. May the eternal energy of Adiyogi bless us through this journey. हर हर महादेव.”

The first film, OMG, was well-received by audiences and was one of the most commercially successful films of 2012. The film was centered on Kanji Lalji Mehta, an atheist who owns a shop selling Hindu idols and antiques and sues God after his shop is destroyed during an earthquake. Akshay was recently seen seeking blessings at the Kedarnath temple.

Other than OMG- Oh My God 2, Akshay also has action thriller, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, and the third installment of Hera Pheri in his kitty.
