Actor Chunky Pandey recently opened up about his long-standing friendship with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, revealing their connection dates back to 1986. The duo, who have collaborated for films like Housefull and De Danan Dan among others, met at Madhumati Academy of Film Dancing & Acting, where senior students often mentored juniors.

“I have known him since 1986 when we were in Madhumati class,” Chunky shared in an interview with Lehren. Recalling those early days, he added, “Before teachers, the senior students used to train juniors, and so I taught many things to Akshay Kumar.”

However, Akshay Kumar’s initial films in the industry did not perform well at the box office. Akshay had humorously commented on Chunky’s influence in an earlier interview. He quipped, “Whatever I learnt, I learnt initially through Chunky Pandey, and that was so wrong that my films did not work. So I decided to change. Whatever Chunky taught me, I unlearned and then learned something else again, and that’s how I became Akshay Kumar.”

In the recent interview, Chunky Panday was all praise for Akshay Kumar and said “When I saw Akshay Kumar for the first time, I knew he was a star even as a kid.” Discussing their professional collaborations, Chunky recalled the camaraderie they shared on set. “We get along like a house on fire and now even Ananya is doing a film with him. It is a pleasure to have him on sets because he improvises a lot. He improvises for everyone, which is good. He likes to create and make scenes.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has Sarfira, Singham Again, Sky Force, Welcome To The Jungle, Kannappa and Jolly LLB 3 in the pipeline.
