WBCHSE Board Class 12th Result: The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) today (May 8) declared the Uccha Madhyamik results. Students can check and download their scorecards at the official websites – wbchse.wb.gov.in, wbresults.nic.in.
The West Bengal Class 12 result will also be available at education.indianexpress.com.
West Bengal board has declared the WBCHSE class 12 results 2024 in a press conference, recording an overall pass percentage of 90 per cent.
Avik Das from McWilliam Higher Secondary School was the topper getting 496 marks out of 500 with 99.2 per cent.
Soumyadip Saha of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in South 24 Parganas got the second rank (495 marks) while Abhishek Gupta of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir of Malda secured third position with 494 marks. Two girls secured the fourth rank.
This year 42.9 per cent of students got over 60 per cent or above marks while 1.23 per cent got over 90 per cent marks. Fifty-eight students secured the first ten ranks. Twenty-three among them are girls.
A total of 7,55,324 regular candidates appeared in the HS exam. Purba Medinipur is the best-performing district with 95.77 per cent. The results were declared within 69 days of the examination held between February 16 and 29.
60 per cent and above: 40.92 per cent students
70 per cent and above: 22.38 per cent students
80 per cent and above marks: 8.47 per cent students
90 per cent and above: 1.23 per cent students
The overall pass percentage this year is 90 per cent. The science stream has performed the best, with 97.19 per cent students passing, followed by commerce and humanities at 96.08 per cent and 88.2 per cent students passing respectively.
The hard copies of the HS mark sheets and pass certificates will be available from 55 distribution centres including the four regional offices of the Council from May 10. The result tatkal service will be made available from May 10 to 13 for those students who want a revaluation of their results.
West Bengal conducted the board class 12 exams from February 16 to 29 in a pen-paper mode. According to the data provided by the West Bengal board, the exam was conducted from 10 am to 1:15 pm at over 2,675 exam centres.
In 2023, boys had performed better than girl students by scoring 91.86 per cent, while girls scored 87.26 per cent. A similar trend was seen in 2022 when boys outshined girls by scoring 90.19 per cent pass percentage, while girls struggled at 86.58 per cent. In 2021, however, the overall passing percentage was recorded at 97.69 per cent, of which 97.70 per cent were girls and 97.69 per cent were boys.
Last year, 852444 students enrolled, 824891 students appeared and 737807 passed the Uccha Madhyamik exams. While in 2022, a total of 7.4 lakh students had registered, of which, over 96 per cent of the students appeared and a total of 636875 students were declared pass. In 2021, a total of 8.19 lakh students were registered for WBCHSE West Bengal HS 12th. Out of which, 97.69 per cent candidates have managed to clear the exam. In 2020, a total 7,61,583 students appeared in the WBCHSE West Bengal HS 12th exams, out of which 6,80,057 were successful.
However, in 2021, Uccha Madhyamik exams were cancelled due to a rise in Covid-19 cases across the country. Later, the West Bengal board had released the alternate marking scheme.
