Navya Nanda made headlines after she announced that she has bagged a seat in IIM Ahmedabad’s Blended Post Graduate Programme. While some people hailed her for this achievement, others wondered if she has earned her place by merit, and not donation.

Promila Agarwal, associate professor at IIM Ahmedabad, however, argues in favour of Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter. “She got solid CV btw (by the way). U (You) don’t necessarily need CAT. Link**. Irrespective, hats off to everyone for being courageous enough to sign up for rigorous program,” she posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Navya Nanda, as per media reports, completed her schooling from London’s famous and elite Sevenoaks School — a school which has been popular among Bollywood and business families. Following that, she enrolled in New York-based Fordham University where she was earned a Bachelor’s degree in  Digital Technology & UX Design (2016-2020 batch).

After completing her bachelor’s degree, Navya returned to India and founded Aara Health — India’s first women’s health and wellness platform — in April 2020. Following this, she also established Project Naveli in December 2020, which is a non-profit initiative providing women with resources and opportunities to allow for social and economic independence.

A year later, in September 2021, she co-founded Nimaya Foundation with Samyak Chakrabarty. Nimaya is a career accelerator for girls with big dreams but restrictive circumstances, says Nanda.

On the basis of her work experience, and her being able to match the eligibility criteria, Nanda has now bagged a seat at IIM Ahmedabad’s Blended Post Graduate Programme.
