With the completion of the 11th round of admissions for first year junior college admissions this week, the officials of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) are now collecting and analysing admission-related data. The first data revealed zero admissions in 31 divisions of city colleges. Terming it as a serious situation, officials said the fate of these divisions is now uncertain.

According to the norms of the education department, in any unaided section of a junior college, there should be minimum 20 students per class, if not, the division does not get approval. Divisions with less than 30 students are not considered for government aid.

This year, the admission process went completely online in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. An analysis of the admissions show that there are 214 divisions where more than 90 students have taken admissions while in 63 divisions, admissions are less than 30.

There are a total of 586 divisions across 249 junior colleges in the region.
