Samuel did revise his notes and study one day before the exam as he considers that the idle mind is the devil's workshop
Samuel Harshith Tsapa cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination- UG (NEET-UG) 2023 in his first attempt. With a rank of 24, Tsapa is now studying at Christian Medical College, Vellore. Tsapa was deeply inspired by doctors and other health professionals in the country who risked their lives to save patients during the Covid pandemic.
Samuel chose Christian Medical College over AIIMS because of its proximity to his house and also because it ranks third in the country (NIRF 2024). “I followed the advice from parents, elders of the family, and teachers who suggested the college,” said the Hyderabad boy.
Sharing his preparation strategy, the 18-year-old said he relied on short notes prepared by him. “I used to revise the lecture by flipping through my class notes and writing short notes after each class. I used to follow it rigorously, especially in Class 12. I revised most of the chapters through my short notes. I tried to revise the previous chapters before the test,” he said.

When asked how he prepared for chemistry, he said that he used to practice all questions from NCERT like intext, examples, exercise, and exemplar and included them in his short notes.
He further added that if he finds some time, he would practice questions from NS Awasthi, and JEE Main previous year questions.
While for biology and physics he used to take help from online resources like YouTube. “When I can’t get the answer to a question on the first try, I used to leave for the end. In the NEET UG paper, I left around 5 questions in physics for the end which I was able to solve later. Time management is extremely important in this exam,” he said.
He also took help from a YouTube channel ‘Beat The NEET’, which delivers an audio version of the NCERT. “I used to put on my earphones and start listening to the chapter. Two months before NEET, I practiced questions from another application memo NEET app,” he added.

Samuel did revise his notes and study one day before the exam as he considers that the idle mind is the devil’s workshop. “I was nervous. I didn’t let my mind be free on the test day. So, I kept it busy by studying even on the exam day,’’ said he who scored 97.4 per cent in the Class 12 board examination.
Samuel Harshith Tsapa is still exploring possibilities after MBBS but he is planning to do research.
