CBSE Class 10, 12 exams 2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to hold the remaining Class 12 papers in the first two weeks of July, The Indian Express had learned. The HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal is expected to announce the revised examination schedule this week.

HRD minister asks IITs, NITs not to raise fees considering coronavirus pandemic

During a live interaction with students today, the HRD Minister said, “Even though IITs and NITs are autonomous and financially self-regulatory institutes, we still had requested them to not take up the annual fee hike for this year considering the coronavirus pandemic. I had asked chairpersons to convey this to all the institute heads and directors and hope that this sentiment would be respected.”

IITs, NITs not to raise fees for new academic session

There will be no increase in tuition fees for the upcoming academic year at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced today. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had announced to extend the online application form editing option of JEE Main, NEET, and allowed candidates to choose the exam center of their choice in order to minimise any commute for the examinees and their parents

The HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Tuesday said that the decison to conduct the remaining papers of CBSE Class 10, 12 will be taken in a day or two. Replying to a student's query, the minister said "The dates of CBSE class 10, 12 examinations will be announced soon, and the decision will be taken in a day or two."

COVID-19 taskforce in all institutes

UGC has set-up COVID-19 task force and has asked every institute to set-up a covid-19 helpline and force to help students.

When will colleges open? Asks a student

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the UGC calendar has suggested to conduct the college exams from July 1 and to start new session in August. 

"College level exams to be held from July 1 and will try to declare result by July-end so that the session can begin from August. We have asked institutes to be aware about situation in their area. In case an area is still affected in July, they can promote students on basis of previous and internal exams," Nishank said.

Diksha portal has content for different exmas and in different languages. It has interactive curriculum. Students should use e-content, especially under lockdown. The national repository from open universities is also available at the portal, says HRRD

Answering queries raised in previous live, the HRD Minister had informed that students from classes 1 to 8 will be promoted to the next classes across India without exams. Several states had already made that announcement. He reiterated the exams for major subjects which are important for the college admission process will be held only.

Point of discussion

Apart from NEET, JEE, and pending board exam dates, the HRD minister is also expected to talk about the new academic session. During the meeting of HRD Minister with state education ministers last week it was discussed that syllabus for board exams as well as competitive exams including JEE Main should be reduced for the upcoming session as they have lost a couple of months. This suggestion was made by Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia, however, no final decision was taken on it then.

CBSE Class 10, 12 exam dates updates

The dates of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10, 12 examinations will not release today by the HRD Minister. Refuting the media reports that the Human Resource and Development (MHRD) Minister will announce the dates of CBSE with JEE Main, NEET, board controller Sanyam Bharadwaj said, “Till now, the decision has not been taken to announce the board examination dates tomorrow.”

JEE Main likely in June; here’s what HRD Minister said last month

In an interview with The Indian Express, HRD Minister said it is likely that JEE-Main will be conducted in June. The Ministry is consulting stakeholders like the boards of examinations, IITs, and other agencies involved in logistical operations of JEE and NEET before announcing the next dates. To assess the possibility of conduction of online exams for higher education, the HRD ministry has constituted a task force under UGC. We will issue guidelines based on the report.

New academic session to start by September 1

The University Grants Commission (UGC) released an indicative academic calendar last month according to which for higher education institutions Wednesday that suggested classes for first-year students can start by September 1 and for intermediate year students on August 1. It also indicated that the admission process for fresh batches of students should be conducted in August.

JEE Main, NEET UG are held for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering and medicine. Every year, JEE Main is held in April and NEET on the first Sunday of May.  However, the exams were postponed due to nationwide lockdown imposed due to the COVID-19. JEE Main, NEET exam dates HIGHLIGHTS: In his previous live interaction with parents, the minister had announced to hold a meeting with state education ministers. It was decided in the meeting that state and central boards will be allowed to evaluate exams during lockdown to curb further delay of the academic year. Among other major decisions taken was to use the Samagra Siksha balance of the previous year which is around Rs 6,200 crore, while an ad-hoc grant of Rs 4,450 crore is being issued for the first quarter.
