IIT Hyderabad Placement Trends, Top Companies, Salary Packages (Image via IIT-H)Every year, several lakh candidates apply through JEE Main to secure admission to centrally funded technical institutions such as the IITs, drawn by the promise of rigorous academic training and long-term career opportunities. Placement performance remains one of the key reference points for students and parents while shortlisting institutes, particularly at the undergraduate level.
According to IIT Hyderabad’s placement statistics for 2023–24, undergraduate placements saw a moderation in overall placement percentage compared to the previous year; however, top-end compensation remained strong. During the 2023–24 placement season, 70.99 per cent of UG students were placed, with recruiters offering the highest annual package of Rs 90 lakh. The average package stood at Rs 22.5 lakh, underlining sustained demand for IIT Hyderabad graduates across sectors.
A total of 320 companies participated in the placement process, making 521 offers to students. Of these, 493 students secured placements, while 87 pre-placement offers (PPOs) were accepted. The institute also recorded 43 international offers during the cycle, indicating continued global recruiter interest despite a tighter hiring environment.
At the BTech programme level, IIT Hyderabad reported an average package of Rs 24.32 lakh per annum, with 74.58 per cent of BTech students placed. The highest BTech package touched Rs 90 lakh per annum.
In comparison, IIT Hyderabad’s 2022–23 placement season reflected a relatively higher placement rate but slightly lower average compensation. As per official data, 74.90 per cent of students were placed overall, with the average package recorded at Rs 20.07 lakh per annum. The highest annual package stood at Rs 63.78 lakh that year.
The placement drive saw participation from 335 companies, which collectively made 621 offers. A total of 570 students were placed, with 104 PPOs accepted. The number of international offers stood at 55, marginally higher than the 2023–24 cycle.
Focusing specifically on BTech placements in 2022–23, IIT Hyderabad reported an average package of Rs 24.32 lakh per annum for BTech graduates, with 82.62 per cent of students placed. While the highest BTech package was lower than the following year, the stronger placement percentage reflected a more favourable hiring climate during that cycle.
A year-on-year comparison shows that 2023–24 witnessed a dip in overall and BTech-level placement percentages, alongside a reduction in the total number of offers and PPOs. However, this was accompanied by a sharp rise in the highest package, particularly at the BTech level, where the top offer increased significantly to Rs 90 lakh per annum.
| Metric | 2023–24 | 2022–23 |
| BTech placement percentage | 74.58% | 82.62% |
| Average BTech package | Rs 24.32 LPA | Rs 24.32 LPA |
| Highest BTech package | Rs 90 LPA | Rs 63.78 LPA |
| Overall students placed | 493 | 570 |
| Total offers made | 521 | 621 |
| PPOs accepted | 87 | 104 |
| International offers | 43 | 55 |
The average BTech package remained competitive across both years, even as recruiters became more selective. The slight decline in international offers and company participation in 2023–24 also aligns with broader global hiring trends.
