The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced an Online Post Graduate Diploma in Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology through its Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART). The one-year programme is designed for engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals seeking to contribute to India’s transition to electric mobility, with the country targeting 30% adoption by 2030.

The online postgraduate diploma offered by IIT Delhi provides participants with a systems-level understanding of the EV ecosystem. Topics include battery management systems, power electronics, powertrain design, charging infrastructure, safety systems, and the use of artificial intelligence in fault diagnostics. The course follows a blended format, combining live online classes with on-campus immersion modules that offer lab exposure and academic interaction at IIT Delhi.

Participants will engage in capstone projects, simulations, case studies, and semester-long research under the supervision of IIT Delhi faculty. On successful completion, candidates will be awarded a Post Graduate Diploma from IIT Delhi and gain official recognition as part of the institute’s alumni network.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Jaro Education, which will provide support for wider accessibility and professional learning across the country. IIT Delhi faculty and EV experts will conduct live interactive classes, while industry-focused projects are expected to ensure that the learning remains relevant to current challenges in the sector.

Programme duration and eligibility

The diploma runs for one year and is structured for working professionals who wish to upskill without taking a career break. Eligibility includes a bachelor’s degree in electrical sciences or equivalent with relevant industry experience. Candidates holding a diploma in electrical sciences with a first class and at least three years of professional experience are also eligible. Admissions are based on academic merit and professional background.

According to the institute, the diploma has been structured to prepare participants for roles in EV design, manufacturing, research and development, charging infrastructure, fleet electrification, and policy planning.
