BITS Pilani launches Design School in Mumbai; admissions begin on Feb 26

BITS Design School will introduce a four-year, residential, bachelor of design (honours) programme in the academic year 2024-25, followed by a master’s degree programme over next two years.

The Birla Institute of Technology And Science (BITS) Pilani on February 15 launched BITS Design School (BITSDES) in Mumbai.

BITS Design School will introduce a four-year, residential, bachelor of design (honours) programme in the academic year 2024-25, followed by a master’s degree programme and a faculty development programme for design educators over the next two years.

Admissions for the new design school will begin on February 26 2024 for the founding class who will be taught by international visiting faculty and a marquee Indian faculty trained at the top design schools in the world. In the second year of the programme, students can choose from the five streams offered for specialisation – Physical Product Design, Digital Product Design (UI/UX), Human Centred Design, Experience Design, and Visual Design.

At this new institute, graduates will be equipped with a set of transdisciplinary and in demand competencies, to take on C-Suite positions as they grow in their careers. Meritorious students will receive generous scholarships to enable access and ensure diversity of the cohort.

The BITS Design School curriculum has been co-designed and will be reviewed annually by Aalto University, Finland, ranked at the sixth spot globally in the field of Art and Design according to QS Rankings.

A world class fully residential permanent campus will house BITS Design School, BITS School of Management, and BITS Law School. It is being built over 63 acres in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
