Assam board Class 10 and Class 12 exams in February (Express photo by Bhupendra Rana/ representative)The Class 10 Higher School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) 2026 exams will begin on February 10 and the Class 12 Higher Secondary (HS) 2026 exams will start on February 11. The Chief Minister of Assam announced on X. The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will be conducting the Class 10 and Class 12 exams.
The first day of the Assam board 2026 Class 10 exam will begin with the MIL/ English paper and end on February 27. The Assam board Class 10 matric exams for the theory papers will be held for a duration of three hours for most papers. While the first shift will begin at 9 am and continue till 12 noon, the second shift will be held between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm.

Five minutes of extra time will be allowed before the start of the exam in both shifts to read the question paper. Examination schedule of the practical subjects will be notified in due course of time, the board said while releasing the Class 10 Matric and Class 12 HS datesheets.
The Assam Board Class 10 theory exams in 2025 were held between February 15 and March 3 and the practical exams were conducted on January 21 and 22. Out of over 4 lakh students who appeared, as many as 2,70,471 candidates successfully passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 63.98%.
Assam Board HS Class 12 exams in 2025 were held between February 13 and March 17, and the practical component of the ASSEB HS exams was conducted from January 29 to February 10. Last year, 3,02,420 ASSEB students registered for their Assam board HS exams — science, arts, commerce and vocational streams. The AHSEC Arts stream had the highest (2,30,091) number of students, followed by science with 57,724 students, Commerce with 17,869, and Vocational Education had 1,241 students. In the HS Arts stream, 81.03% of students passed; in Science, the pass rate was 84.88%; in Commerce, 82.18% of students passed. Meanwhile, students from the Vocational stream recorded a pass percentage of 68.55%.
