NIRF Ranking 2023 Top Medical Colleges: Continuing its winning streak, AIIMS Delhi retained its top spot this year too in the top medical colleges category. They are followed by Chandigarh’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in the second position.
The ranking was released by the Ministry of Education. IIT Madras has secured the top position in the overall and engineering categories.
The Christian Medical College and Bangalore’s National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) also retained their third and fourth spot, respectively. The Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research, Puducherry, has also retained the fifth spot.

In its ninth edition, three new categories have been introduced, namely ‘open universities’, ‘Skill universities’ and ‘State funded government universities’. The AICTE chairperson, Anil Sahasrabudhe, also announced that the Ministry aims to begin ‘sustainability rankings’ from next year.
This time, IITs have grabbed the top positions in the top institutes (overall) and the engineering categories. Meanwhile, IISc Bengaluru, JNU and Jamia have been crowned as the top two universities in India.
In 2023, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham improved its rank from right in 2022 to sixth in 2023. Following from 2022, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow retained its seventh rank.
