Nick Reiner, the son of director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has been taken into custody after the couple was found dead in their Los Angeles home
The couple was found stabbed to death on Sunday in an apparent homicide, according to the police.
Who is Nick Reiner?
According to the BBC, 23-year-old Nick is the middle son of the family. Nick has worked as a screenwriter, most notably having co-written the screenplay for the 2016 film “Being Charlie”, which was directed by Rob Reiner.

The film, about a drug-addicted teenager, was loosely based on his own addiction struggles, he told People at the time of its release.
Rob spoke about son’s addiction problem
By 18, he had cycled in and out of nine treatment facilities with bouts of homelessness and relapses in between.

Rob Reiner said in a 2016 interview with The Associated Press that “I maybe didn’t handle it the best way. I listened to a lot of people who had a desk and a diploma. I didn’t really think about my kid and what he needed.”
“We didn’t go into it thinking this is going to be therapeutic or bring us closer, but it did come out that way,” Rob Reiner told the AP. “It forced us to understand ourselves better than we had. I told Nick while we were making it, I said, ‘you know it doesn’t matter, whatever happens to this thing, we won already. This has already been good.’”
He was reportedly taken into custody on Sunday and was charged with a felony level crime on Monday.
Los Angeles Police had not identified a suspect, Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton, the chief of detectives, said at a briefing on Sunday night.
According to a TMZ report, the couple was found dead on Sunday afternoon by their daughter, Romy, who immediately told cops the killer was another family member.

Romy told investigators that a relative “should be a suspect” because they’re “dangerous,” sources told TMZ, suggesting it came during a heated argument.
The couple had multiple stab wounds throughout their bodies, including on their throats.
