The Mahratta Chamber of Commerce,Industries and Agriculture and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL),Nashik,will jointly organise a workshop on Opportunities for Indigenisation,Outsourcing and Work Packages at MCCIA,Pune,from 10 am to 1 pm on July 10.
A release said the industries saw a huge opportunity in the Indian Air Force order for 272 Sukhois from HAL.
The IAF has placed an additional order for 42 Sukhois,besides an earlier order for 230 aircraft. Each aircraft is estimated to cost around Rs 350 crore as per the present-day projections.
In addition,the recent policy reforms carried out by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) such as focus on indigenisation,streamlining of Defence
Procurement Procedure,announcement of Defence Offset Policy,etc. have enabled greater industry participation.
Further,the ensuing increase in defence spending will open up significant business opportunities for Indian industries.
SMEs who can leverage their cost advantages and at the same time adhere to global manufacturing practices will also be benefited.
It said the HAL was willing to make collaborative arrangements in the areas of manufacturing of machine components,sheet metals,assemblies,sub-assemblies and design and development tasks (structural analysis,3D modeling and testing).
In addition,they could also provide raw material for manufacturing of aircraft components.
Potential areas for outsourcing include spares,assemblies,undercarriages,electrical looms,electrical panels/relay boxes and toolings,jigs/fixtures,assembly jigs,etc.
PV Deshmukh,managing director,MiG Complex,HAL,will be the chief guest while senior officials from HAL will attend the workshop.
They will interact with the participants on opportunities available for industries with HAL.
