Vertiv, the US-headquartered company involved in manufacturing of cooling solutions, inaugurated its third manufacturing facility in India on Tuesday. Based over 4.8 acres of land, this facility would employ over 500 people directly.
Other than Chakan, the company has two other manufacturing facilities in Ambernath and Pune. Subhasis Majumdar, managing director of Vertiv India, said the Chakan facility would manufacture thermal solutions. “Our supply chain includes the vendors and sub vendors who have also set up their facilities in Chakan,” he said.
Thus the indirect employment, Majumdar said, would be much more than the direct employment. Majumdar said most of the vendors and suppliers would be from Ambernath and other places in India. The facility in Chakan would cater mostly to the India market but future plans talk of exports also.
Vertiv also has a global research and development (R&D) center in Pune, India located in Viman Nagar. Vertiv India employs more than 2,000 people in India and has country-wide presence. Data centres form the bulk of the market serviced by the company.
As data centres become more and more advanced, cooling solutions, would also require innovation, Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of the company, said. The future would see cooling solutions which would be able to cater to densification.
