Transfer orders have been issued to sub-divisional officers (SDOs) Haveli Avinash Hadgal and Bhor Sanjay Asawale,who were probing the Shindewadi illegal constructions. District officials confirmed the transfer orders from the Chief Ministers office late on Thursday. The officials were conducting an inquiry into the Shindewadi illegal construction,which had caused a flash flood,causing the death of a woman and a child after their car was washed away.

District administration officials said although after Haveli taluka was made a subdivision,a new SDO was to be appointed,but transfers were unexpected in the present situation. Administrative transfers happen only during April/May, said a senior official.

The committee appointed under Prabhakar Deshmukh to look into the Shindewadi incident was to forward the report. Deshmukh said he is yet to send the report. We should be doing it next week. I am not aware of the transfers, he said.

MLC Neelam Gorhe,who had taken up the incident,raised the issue of the transfers. Why should two officials who were probing the incident and even conducting drives against illegal construction be transferred?she said. Gorhe said even as the officials were doing the duty,they were issued transfer orders. The government should have supported them rather than issuing transfer orders, she added.

Meanwhile,the accused in Shindewadi case,Kisan Rathod,said he had recently obtained an order from upper court to stay auction of his five-acre land as proposed by the district administration. The auction was to be conducted on August 13. Rathod said the district administration had levied a fine of Rs 56 lakh for illegal land excavation in Shindewadi.
