Musical tribute
The BackBenchers,Drum and Guitar students of Vineet Alurkar will play a concert today at POST 91,Koregaon Park,5.30pm onwards. This concert will be a tribute to the victims of the recent German Bakery blast. The students aged seven to 20 years will play songs by Harry Belafonte,The Beatles,Bob Dylan,Stevie Wonder and more peace anthems and sing for peace and harmony and for resilience.
Style & spirit
A fashion show was organised for the launch of Amway Indias Attitude skincare and colours. The evening saw housewives,teenagers,service class and businessmen participating in the fashion show,which was followed by live dance performances on latest Bollywood numbers by selected groups of the companys distributors and their children. The activity builds consumer access and also gives a platform for common people to showcase their talent, said Achinta Banerjie,vice president,Amway Indian West.
Celebrating cinema
In order to celebrate its entry in the golden jubilee year,a three-day event has been organised at the FTII from March 20. The main function in the evening would comprise of felicitation of the first batch of students. Ambika Soni,minister,Information and Broadcasting and actor Dev Anand will be the chief guests of the function. Screening of first batch diploma films and Prabhat classics will be some of the highlights of this event. Cultural programmes such as contemporary dance,classical recital by Pandit Rajan- Sajan Mishra,Chhou dance and Qawwali along with an exhibition on FTII will take place during the event.
For a cause
With a motive to protect environment,the Ishanya Foundation has come up with an event called Dupatta Campaign. The first phase of the campaign aims to produce more than 10,000 cloth bags made by women from lower- income groups,which will be used as the substitute to the plastic bags. Cloth bags of various sizes will be made from donated materials and will be given to the participating NGOs and Self Help Groups during the yellow ribbon NGO fair. Sarees and bedsheets will also be accepted as donations for the event.
