Sea change
When viewed from the space, the Earth is a majestic blue sphere, with more than 70 per cent of its surface covered by water. However, despite the vastness of these seas, only one percent of the worlds ocean has been studied and scientists know more about the surface of the moon than about the bottom of the ocean. With its new,nine-part series,The Blue Planet that airs every Wednesday at 9 pm,the Discovery Channel reveals the mysteries of the ocean world. Filmmakers traveled to 200 locations across seven continents over the course of more than 150 filming trips and 3,000 days in the field,to provide a compendium of oceanic creatures. Narrated by legendary natural history filmmaker Sir Richard Attenborough,The Blue Planet airs on Discovery Channel every Wednesday at 9 pm. Using state-of-the-art technology, this weekly series covers scores of animals and their behaviour patterns for the first time. These include a Bioluminescent Squid, the Fang Tooth Fish, whose teeth are so big it cant close its mouth,a deep sea dumbo Octopus that uses its ear-like fins to fly and the Blue Whale, the largest animal ever to have lived on earth.
