Speaking more about the award, president of the Rangat Sangat Pratisthan, says,We have been giving out this award for the last eight years. A prime criterion for deciding the recipient of the award is the fact that the artiste, whosoever it may be,must have been associated with Shahu Modak during their career as an actor. We also give the award only to senior artistes who have been associated with the industry for long.
In addition to this the award is always given at the hands of the Commissioner of police as a mark of respect to Shahu Modak who had himself worked as a police officer in one of his films. The award will be given to Sulochana Tai at the SM Joshi Foundation hall on Wednesday. Some of the earlier recipients of the award include Bapu Watve,Anant Marathe,Baby Shakuntala and Chittranjan Kolatkar.
