Siren on Reboot

I launched the website for my fans. I want to interact with them about future projects,just like Hrithik (Roshan) and Priyanka (Chopra) who stay connected with their fans. But while most opt to connect with their well-wishers through Twitter or Facebook,I stay away from it. The idea of communicating with millions of unfamiliar people frightens me. Not that I am not worried about the negative comments or trolls known to frequent such sites,it is just that you don’t know who you are communicating with. Yes,they could be well-wishers but I don’t find a genuine vibe to these micro blogging sites. In fact,I dread sites where everyone is just trying to be somebody else. As far as career is concerned,I don’t know what really helps an actor,but I will be using the website to promote my upcoming films.

Your upcoming films include Rajjo,Revolver Rani and Queen. Was it a conscious effort to take up only women-oriented projects?

In fact,except for Rajjo,it will be wrong to call these films women-centric. Rajjo is a real-life story of a mujrewali set against the backdrop of the demolition of Nagpada,which is located in central Mumbai. The rest are far away from anything to do with women liberation. Queen is a comedy,about a girl who decides to go on her honeymoon alone. It is a fun story of a naive girl from urban Delhi,who travels to Paris and Amsterdam alone. Revolver Rani,on the other hand,is an action film. It is a story of a woman gangster who comes across as a villain as well as a hero. I took up projects that interested me and surprisingly,they all have me in the key role. I am excited about being the woman protagonist.

You will be seen in a non-glamorous role in Revolver Rani. Can you elaborate on your role?

It’s one of my most challenging roles. It took me months to understand the role and perfect the lines. Revolver Rani is a politician-cum-gangster from Chambal. She is definitely a negative character,who is wicked,fierce,power hungry and ugly. Audiences will be in for a surprise when they will see me with a crooked nose. The film also stars Vir Das and Piyush Mishra,among other theatre actors.

Krrish 3 is your second venture with the Roshans after Kites. How is your equation with them off-screen?

I am very fond of the Roshans. We all know about their success story. Though they are one of the most popular families in our country,they are still very rooted. It is surprising to see this rich and famous family living a simple and middle-class life. They live together in one house and are very close and supportive of each other. It was easy for me to get along with a family like theirs. Work wise,I would only like to say that it is very commendable of Rakeshji to make a science fiction film such as Krrish 3,at this age.

There have been reports of a Tanu Weds Manu sequel.

The film will go on floor next year. I am very excited about it as you will see me in a double role.

The success of your films such as Gangster,Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and Fashion was followed by failures such as No Problem

and Rascals,among others. What went wrong?

At some point,I got a little disoriented. I started taking up all projects that came my way. But as they say,you don’t realise the importance of what you have till you lose it. My failure made me realise that I needed to brace up. I realised that acting is something that I can do,and I need to do it with full determination. Besides,it is too late to pursue any other career (laughs). So,I am doing my best.
