Vrusshabha Box Office Collection Day 2: Mohanlal’s film continues its downward spiral, fails to earn Rs 1 cr after two days
Vrusshabha Box Office Collection Day 2: Mohanlal’s film continues its disappointing run, collecting only Rs 92 lakhs after a two-day run.
Vrusshabha box office collection Day 2: The film earned Rs 32 lakhs.
Vrusshabha Box Office Collection Day 2: It is rather disappointing that Mohanlal could not end 2025 on a high note. After a stellar year, with three major releases, L2: Empuraan, Thudarum, and Hridayapoorvam, all ranking among the highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year, the superstar had an opportunity to close the year with a fourth consecutive hit. However, his final release of the year, Vrusshabha, which hit theatres on Christmas, has been a party spoiler for him. The film failed to even collect Rs 1 crore on its opening day, and its second-day performance saw a further decline.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the fantasy actioner witnessed a significant drop from its first-day earnings of Rs 60 lakhs to just Rs 32 lakhs on day two, bringing its total domestic net collection to Rs 92 lakhs (still well below the Rs 1 crore mark).
The film’s earnings fell by 46.7% from day one to day two. Released in four major languages, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, Vrusshabha is drawing attention primarily for its Malayalam version, as the other versions performed poorly. The breakdown of the day 2 collections shows that the Malayalam version grossed Rs 20 lakhs, the Telugu version Rs 10 lakhs, and both the Hindi and Kannada versions just Rs 1 lakh each.

This makes Vrusshabha the lowest-performing Mohanlal film in recent years. Comparatively, L2: Empuraan grossed Rs 37.5 crore, Thudarum Rs 16.05 crore, and Hridayapoorvam Rs 6.7 crore in the same time period. Even the pre-pandemic flop Big Brother, did saw a major drop in day two earnings, but it still managed Rs 2.5 crore.
In fact, Mohanlal’s 2024 mediocre directorial venture Barroz 3D also performed better in its first two days, grossing Rs 5.05 crore. The only film that Vrusshabha has managed to outperform is the 2023 mystery thriller Alone, which earned Rs 53 lakhs in a similar timeframe. Considering the mixed word of mouth and the ongoing decline at the box office, it now seems nearly impossible for the Mohanlal-starrer actioner to recover, let alone stage a comeback.
