Lower and Upper KG students of St Bishops School enthralled the audience with their speech,dance and costumes at their annual concert — Lord of the Jungle .

The jungle scene had a three-dimensional effect. Costumes,make-up,sound effects,lighting and music were outstanding and added to the professionalism. But there was nothing to beat the young performers who delivered their dialogues without a flaw.

RIMS students exhibit eco-friendly business tactics

Students of RIMS International School and Junior College,Pune,took on the role of entrepreneurs by running a small business for a day at an exhibition on hand-made paper crafts. They were provided with a platform for contributing towards an eco-friendly environment using their business tactics. The students decided to run a small business with a message — ‘Save trees ,they are life savers. Use hand-made paper,eco-friendly and recyclable.’ The project was titled Paper Pleasure. Team members took on the responsibilities of raising finance,purchasing raw material,using marketing strategy,producing advertisements and finally selling the products. They used their creativity and ideas to make various products from hand-made paper such as folders,pen-holders,cards,tissue-paper boxes,carry bags,baskets,paintings,note-pads,wall-hanging,wind-chimes and envelopes etc.

Sports meet: Handball & TT at KV No.1 AFS Lohegaon

The 43rd National Sports Meet for Girls was organised by KVS Mumbai Region from October 16-21. KV No.1 AFS Lohegaon hosted the handball and table tennis events for girls of about 23 regions of India. Approximately 1,100 girls from various Kendriya Vidyalayas participated. KV No.1 had arranged for both lodging and boarding of the participants.

Muktangan school gets 7 Middle School Scholarships

Out of 106 students of Muktangan English School who appeared for Middle School Scholarship Examination this year,seven students won the scholarship.

The pass percentage was 97.17 per cent. The students achieved the feat under the guidance of Director Dr RP Joshi and Principal in-charge of Pre-Primary and Primary Section Mrs Alka Hinge.

Kids-Idol-Kala Ki Khoj: Nisha of RIMS bags 2nd position

Nisha Kolhe of RIMS International School and Junior College bagged the second position in Kids-Idol-Kala Ki Khoj held at Ishanya Mall on October 14,2012. Her determination was evident in her eyes as she set the floor on fire by using a variety of wonderful steps in spite of not being a trained dancer.

Ivanios school celebrates silver jubilee year

Mar Ivanios Convent High School is celebrating its silver jubilee this year. The year started with an inspirational and motivating seminar for students and teachers — Visionary Teachers for social change — conducted by Rev Father Vincent Carmel and Rev Sister Anupa. Blessings were sought at Holy Mass on June 14. Students were also asked to bring stationery,clothes and other items for donation. To create awareness about environment conservation,a tree plantation programme was organised on July 6 by students of Classes III to VIII. Students of Classes IX and X visited Tara Ashram and planted trees as part of tree plantation programme. Patron Day on July 16 was also celebrated as Foundation Day when homage was paid to the Great Heavenly Saint Mar Ivanios. SSC toppers of the school were felicitated,along with IAS officer Mr Yuvraj Patil,an alumnus of the first batch of the school who passed in 2001. He was also an SSC topper of the school. In academic year 2011-2012,the school secured 72 distinctions with 25 students attaining first class. Innovative and creative skills of students were exhibited during Onam celebration. Floral carpet competition on August 30 showcased massive and exquisite floral designs. Onam celebrations concluded with a dance and a drama presentation by teachers. Solo singing competition was held on September 3 where students enthralled audience with devotional songs. A solo dance competition was held on September 7. At the English elocution competition on September 10,students spoke on topics like Influence of advertisements,Disadvantages of being an only child,Save our Planet Earth,Mobile,a boon or curse,Books,our best friend.

To mark the Teachers’ Day,students organised cultural programmes and games for teachers. School PTA members also held fun-filled games for teachers. September ended with a group dance competition on September 26.

RIMS organises food festival — Mom and My Recipe

RIMS International School and Junior College organised a fun food festival Mom and My Recipe for the students of Nursery to Class II. The show started with lighting of the lamp by school Director Mr Museeb Rais,followed by introduction of judges.

The contest was judged by professional chefs from renowned five-star hotels. The tiny tots along with their parents tossed crunchy salads,mixed appetising mocktails and prepared mouth-watering snacks and desserts. The contestants were judged on the originality of their recipes,preparation techniques,flavour,texture,hygiene,cleanliness and overall presentation of the dish. There was a pre-judging round to check students’ involvement. No pre-cooked food or ingredient was allowed and there was no cooking on the spot. Participants were given 15 minutes to prepare their dish.

Students learnt important skills of life like time management,following instructions,counting,developing motor skills and appreciating food. Principal Mrs Shakuntala Jaisinghani gave away the prizes to the winners.

RIMS students cast a spell at folk dance competition

Primary section students of RIMS International School and Junior College put up a scintillating performance of rhythm,grace and coordination in a colourful folk dance competition. It was a visual treat to watch little kids swaying confidently to foot tapping catchy numbers. Students took part in solo as well as group categories. They were judged on the basis of their costumes,choreography,expression,rhythm and synchronisation. A potpourri of international and national cultures and tradition was showcased in their dances,right from Japan,Iran and Ireland to Maharashtra,Punjab and tribes of India.
