Around 3,000 people took part in the in the walkathon from Sancheti Hospital to Modern College Ground. (Express Photo) Sancheti Hospital on Sunday organised a walkathon to create awareness on Arthritis. More than 3000 people including patients, students along with people from various walks of life participated in the walkathon from Sancheti Hospital to Modern College Ground.
Dr.Parag Sancheti , Chairman and Managing Director Sancheti Hospital said that we are seeing an increasing number of arthritis patients even in younger age groups. Therefore there is need for more awareness and with this initiative we want to give a message that arthritis is preventable and treatable.
Dr.Parag Sancheti congratulated Mr. Rajendra Shinde on the occasion. He was suffering from osteoarthritis after which he underwent knee replacement on both legs. Rajendra Shinde showed his determination and walked all the way from Dhule to Tirupati Balaji covering 1252 km in 42 days.
Rupal Sancheti Director Sancheti Hospital said that “We are humbled by the immense response and the sense of purpose displayed by all participants. Our united effort to fight arthritis serves as a powerful reminder that when a community stands together, we can conquer even the most challenging obstacles. Let’s keep walking the path to a world free from arthritis.”
Representatives and Patients from Mission Arthritis Foundation , Pune Orthopaedic Society, Pune Doctors Association and PM Shah foundation were also present on the occasion. Students from FC college , DES college, JSPM college of pharmacy, COEP, Abasaheb Garware College , Sancheti College of Physiotherapy , Symbiosis college , Sancheti Nursing College , MMCC college, SP College, Karve Institute of Social Service, NCL College, Yashwantrao Chavan College, Appasaheb Jedhe College, BMCC,Modern College of Science Arts and Commerce, Bharati Vidyapeeth etc participated with enthusiasm in the initiative.
World Arthritis Day was incorporated in 1996 to create awareness about the musculoskeletal disease and is celebrated on 12th October every year.
