Porsche’s report submitted after technical inspection, but details undisclosed

A previous examination conducted by the RTO revealed that the car was left halfway through the permanent registration process as the car’s owner had not paid the registration fee of Rs 1,758.

Following the inspection conducted last week by the Porsche car company to determine whether the car involved in the accident had any technical faults, an RTO official stated that the report has been submitted. However, the RTO is bound not to disclose detailed information as the inspection falls under the jurisdiction of Pune police.

Two inspections were conducted–one by the company’s three-member team of technical experts who arrived from Bombay, and the another by the RTO inspector. The latter was a routine preliminary inspection conducted after every accident. RTO official Sanjeev Bhor said both inspection reports have been submitted to the police department.

He said more information could not be revealed as the inspection is an ongoing process by the police. However, according to sources, the inspection indicates that the company’s experts found no technical malfunction in the car.

Regarding the case in court, during arguments against the police’s demand for custody of the minor’s father, Advocate Prashant Patil submitted that the vehicle had not been registered due to being an electric car with reported technical malfunctions. He also mentioned that a case regarding these issues is pending at the Delhi Consumer Forum.

The vehicle was seized by Yerwada police to facilitate a detailed investigation. A previous examination conducted by the RTO revealed that the car was left halfway through the permanent registration process as the car’s owner had not paid the registration fee of Rs 1,758. The car was brought from Bengaluru and temporarily registered through a vehicle dealer from Bengaluru.

In response, the RTO took action against the car and the minor driver involved in the accident by issuing an order to cancel the car’s registration until March 2025. Additionally, the RTO has proposed to suspend the minor’s license until he attains the age of 25.
