India is slowly edging towards the top as far as the itinerary of international musicians is concerned. After Akon sang to Bollywood’s tunes in Ra.One,Metallica,Lady Gaga and DJ Edward Maya had concerts across Indian cities recently. Close on the heels of Shakira’s impending visit came the announcement that popular American rapper Pitbull will be touring Indian soon. The popular singer-songwriter and record producer,best known for his hit single I Know You Want Me,will be performing in Noida,Mumbai and Pune next month. “I have heard fascinating stories about India and its people. I cannot wait for my fans to join me. Hopefully,my next album will have inspiration from India too,” said Pitbull,who’s real name is Armando Christian Pérez. While Noida will see him perform on December 2,Mumbai and Pune will catch him in action on December 3 and 4 respectively. VJ Anousha and DJ Aaron have been scheduled to do the opening acts. Interestingly however,the concert proceeds will be donated to Suryodaya Aids Foundation.

Engrossing and enjoyable stories on animals,backed by interesting artwork,is the crux of graphic book – Animal Palette (Vol 1). The book,written by Chetan Shashikant Joshi,a software graduate,who abandoned his career in IT after 12 years to make writing his mainstream profession,was released by well-known writer Randhir Khare. The writer has explored genres of horror,romance and comedy through the book. The stories are aptly supported by the creative artwork by Tejas Suresh Modak,who is currently working on comic books for an animation company. Author Sonja Chandrachud anchored the book launch event which was held at Landmark,Phoenix Marketcity recently.

Ninety-two-year-old artist R K Deshmukh recently held an exhibition of his artworks at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha. The portraits and landscape paintings displayed were a celebration of his love for art. Deshmukh began painting 70 years ago,at the young age of 22. “My paintings are mostly inspired by nature,” he says. Even at this age,he has a steady hand,clearly reflected in the minute details of village scenes,beaches and so on in his paintings.
