Philips Lighting announces certificate course

Sumit Joshi,senior director,marketing,Philips Lighting India,said,“Light today is used to create right mood and ambience. After inking this MoU,we hope to enhance the interior designers’ and architects’ ability to bring together both art and science of lighting.”

Sudeshna Mukhopadhyay,director,Philips Lighting University,said that in a bid to partner with major professional institutions in the country,it has entered into a formal partnership with IIID. “This initiative will help understand technical know-how of the latest lighting technologies such as LED.”

Rohini Mani,executive committee member,IIID,said,“ IIID is happy to partner with Philips as this is an important step in broadening the vocational options available to students and budding professionals. The course is very important for designers to understand the technical and creative nuances of lighting. With burgeoning demands for state-of-the-art designs,proper knowledge in lighting is extremely essential. “

This partnership will span over a three-year covering four sessions every year for students,teachers and young practicing designers. On completion of the course,all participants will receive a joint certificate from IIID and Philips. The Philips Lighting University was introduced in April 2011 by Philips Lighting.
