The long-pending demand of railway pass holders for a separate window for procuring passes has finally come true. A special window has been opened at the Pune station.
A number of organisations, including Pune-Mumbai Railway Pravasi Sangh and others have been raising this demand for a long time.
A few years ago,Pune station had a window which issued passes for daily commuters. However, its timing was limited and later was closed down causing much inconvenience to commuters. The daily Pune-Mumbai commuters had to get the passes from Mumbai. This increased the revenue of the Mumbai division, Hemant Tapale, president of Pune-Mumbai Railway Pravasi Sangh said.
This special window will operate on an experimental basis and the service would continue depending on the response of the pass holders. The window will be open the entire day in order to facilitate the daily commuters.
This will enable people to get passes to the destinations like Mumbai,Lonavla,Daund and others,in an easy way. This will also increase the revenue of the Pune division, Tapale said.
