The Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) has already seen a lot of the matches being washed out due to the rain. All the matches scheduled on Monday were postponed to Wednesday, which was a rest day. The organisers clarified that the matches were not cancelled but postponed. Citing the heavy rain as the reason,Maharashtra Cricket Association,Tournament Committee Chairman Riyaz Bagwan, said,Matches on Monday (October 3) are not called off,but postponed to Wednesday (October 5). It will be only fair to salvage the day. Rains have taken a toll on matches and this decision was necessary to get teams more playing time on the pitch in this tournament.
Round 6 of the schedule will see the games of Pratapgad Warriors and the Shivneri Lions and Raigad Royals against the Sinhagad Supremos at Deccan Gymkhana and the Panhala Panthers play against the Torna Tigers and Devgiri Emperors will take on the Sindhudurg Sailors at Poona Club on October 6. This is the second time that the MPL has had a full day schedule disrupted due to rain. Earlier,Friday’s schedule on September 30 was called off and two points were awarded to each team.
