A sessions court in Bengaluru granted conditional anticipatory bail on Friday to a 60-year-old private jet pilot who was accused of rape by a flight attendant during a layover in the city in November 2025.

According to the 26-year-old survivor, the accused took advantage of her at a five-star hotel after a night out in Bengaluru on November 19 during a layover for a private jet on which they arrived in the city from Hyderabad.

“The anticipatory bail petition filed by the petitioner…allowed with conditions,” the sessions court said in its order.

The woman had initially filed the complaint with the Begumpet police in Hyderabad, and the Zero First Information Report (FIR) which was registered there, was transferred to the East Bengaluru police since the incident occurred in its limits. Accordingly, the pilot was booked under section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the investigation, the pilot claimed the incident was consensual which the survivor denied, police sources said. Officers have been trying to reconstruct the crime sequence using CCTV footage at various locations.

The police complaint states that the pilot and the woman travelled from Begumpet airport in Hyderabad on a private jet and reached Bengaluru at around 5 pm on the day of the crime. They were put up at a five-star hotel on MG Road. After checking into the hotel, the two are reported to have visited various cafes and restaurants and returned to the hotel after having a few drinks. They had a flight the next morning.

The two then went to the accused’s room to smoke when the alleged incident took place. The flight attendant later reported the matter to her organisation.
