Two men on a motorcycle opened fire outside a gym in Outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar on Monday night. Hours after the incident, a purported message on social media claimed responsibility for the shooting on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
According to a police officer, the authenticity of the post is being verified; however, a case related to the firing has been registered.
Police said the two shooters drove past R K Fitness, located on the Outer Ring Road, and one of them fired two shots outside. The officer said no one was injured in the incident.
Soon after the incident, the purported message surfaced on a Facebook account belonging to a user named Randeep Malik, claiming responsibility for the firing.
The message claimed that Randeep and one Anil Pandit, based in the US, had orchestrated the firing as the gym owner had ignored their calls.
“Next time call nahi uthaya to dharti se uthwa dunga tujhe jaise Nadir Shah ko uthaya tha… (If you do not pick our call, you will be eliminated like Nadir Shah),” it added.
The message further stated that those who are enemies of Lawrence Bishnoi would remain enemies, and that he would remain loyal to him until his death.
The message also mentioned the names of other gang members, including Hashim Baba, Kala Rana, and Jitenderr Gogi.
Nadir Shah, a gym owner in Greater Kailash, was murdered outside his gym in September 2024. Police later arrested more than a dozen people who were members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. He is an accused in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and in cases involving threats and firing outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
Hashim Baba and Kala Rana are lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
