A gang of three,including a minor,have been arrested for raping a 21-year-old woman at Sanaswadi village in Shirur taluka of Pune district on Tuesday night.
A case has been registered at Shikrapur police station and one of the suspect,identified as Vishal Balaji Mudhe,has been arrested. Police have also detained a 16-year-old boy in
the case. Search is on for the
third suspect,identified as Sudan Hargude.
Police believe they know where Hargudes is hiding and that he was likely to be nabbed by Wednesday night.
The girl hails from Amravati and came to Shirur to work as a unskilled labourer. She was staying with her sister in a rented accommodation. On Tuesday night,the suspects went to her house, Assistant Inspector of Shikrapur Police Station Umesh Tavaskar of said.
They called the girl out of the room,saying they have work
for her. Her sister asked them
to come next day. But one of
the suspects,who owns a shop in the area,said he wanted to speak about something important with the her sister.
The suspects then barged into the house and took her by force into the bushes,where they allegedly gangraped her.
Meanwhile,the minor detained in this case has been sent to remand home. Suspect Mudhe,who is an employee at a private firm,was produced before the court. Mudhe has been remanded to police custody till March 18. We are hoping to arrest Hargude soon, said inspector Tavaskar.
Man arrested for marital rape
A 31-year-old man was arrested by Faraskhana Police for allegedly raping and having unnatural sex with his wife. The victim,a 28-year-old woman,lodged a complaint alleging that the her husband had also repeatedly raped her before their marriage,with threats of cancelling their wedding if she did not comply. The man used to have unnatural sex with her against her wishes. He also repeatedly raped her before marriage,threatening to cancel their engagement if she didnt comply, said Police Sub-Inspector Geeta Bagwade,Faraskhana police station. Bagwade said the incident took place between September 2012 and February 2013. Fed up with the torture,the victim left her husbands house. A magistrate court on Wednesday remanded the accused to police custody till March 18. The man has been booked under Sections 498A (harassment of married woman by husband and in-laws),376 (rape),377 (unnatural offences) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
