Post-globalisation,the industry has undergone a great amount of transformation. UGC has always kept up with the times and upgraded themselves to suit the changing customer requirements. With the growing number of MNCs in its 100 km radius,Chakan has already turned into an auto cluster and there is a special need of material testing facilities to cater to the MNCs’ quality requirements. This laboratory will help the SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) sector in their material testing needs, supporting their quality management system, Deshpande said.
Varhadpande said,Even though metal testing might now seem like a niche requirement,in the future,OEMs and suppliers will have to go beyond just quality inspection towards raw material testing. This lab will meet that requirement and consolidate UGC’s reputation of being the only company in India to provide one-stop logistic services. With an initial investment of Rs 1.5 crore, world class equipment and sample collection facilities, this laboratory will answer the need of a high-tech metal testing facility faced by industries in Bhosari,Talegaon,Rangangaon,Pune and Western Maharashtra. To begin with, the laboratory will test the physical and chemical composition of metals. By next year,we plan to set up the facility to test polymers and rubbers, too, said Amit Dhole, director,UGC Supply Chain Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
