The feast of St Marie Eugene,founder of the- Congregation of the religious of the Assumption was celebrated on March 10 at the Sacred Heart- Don Bosco Church in Yerawada,at 6 pm. A small exhibition on the life of St Marie was also put up at the parish of the church. The exhibition was jointly organised by the- Friends of the Assumption organisation and the sisters of the convent.

Vedic laws
The Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan had organised a lecture on the topic- Heritage of Indian Law and its relevance today at the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan recently. Advocate Bhaskarrao Avhad was the speaker for the event. “Today’s legal provisions and laws are not based on those established by the British but they have relevance in the Vedas. The original scripting of the Vedas had provisions for development of the various Shastras,sciences,commentaries,and legal authorities. The rules of civil and criminal judicial processes,concept of political state,division of state,provisions regarding international law,asylum and extradition have been explained in the Vedas. In fact virtually everything regarding today’s legal provisions have had a mention in the Vedas,” said he. He also spoke about the relevance of these laws laid down thousands of years back in today’s life and how today’s modern legal procedures can incorporate more and more of such ideas to improve the existing judicial system.

Diploma course in Vedanta to begin soon
Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan,Pune Kendra (BVBPK) in collaboration with International Forum of Followers of Gurudev Ranade for Philosophical Research (IFFGRPR) has launched a Diploma course in Vedanta. Commenting on the course that will begin from May 15,professor NandKumar Kakirde,secretary,BVBPK,said,”There are many who are interested in learning Indian philosophy and Vedanta but what prevents them is the availability of teachers. With the help of this course,we are bringing together the teachers and the interested students. This is the only Diploma in Vedanta across the country.”

Managing life
The students of the Premier Management Institutes of Pune,gathered recently at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission to partake in a seminar by Dada J P Vaswani wherein he spoke about the things that need to be done by the youth and students when they are faced with various challenges in life. He also emphasised on the importance of developing a constructive and positive attitude towards life and the importance of doing one’s duty without emphasising on the results.This was followed by a question and answer session between the students and Dada Vaswani.
