When I first came to Pune from Dehradun,it took me some time to adjust to the food here. In the beginning, everything I ate, tasted a little different. For example, even eating sambar was a strange experience for me; Sambar here tastes sweeter.

North-Indians are very particular about food and are born with a very distinguished sense of taste. While there are only a few places you can get authentic North-Indian food,I do have some favourites. My favourite food is Aloo Paratha with butter, pickle and chutney, accompanied by a glass of lassi.

The best food experience I’ve ever had was at Rajdhani Thali in Koregaon Park, where they make the paratha exactly to my native taste. I also really like the lassi they make there. I go there twice or thrice a month and though the atmosphere is always very noisy and crowded; it’s something I put up with because I like the food there so much.

There is also a tapri I pass on the roadside, near Wadia College, where I found the best puri-bhaji of my life, served hot and fresh off the stove. Even thinking about the puri-bhaji now makes my mouth water!

Madhuban is another place where I have always found nice and hot food served really fast and the restaurant itself is very clean and hygienic.

A place I frequent almost three to four times a month is Roshal Garden,in Bhosari. Whatever I’ve eaten there has always been superb so I can safely experiment and try different dishes there.

I also really enjoy the Italian food at Dario’s; sometimes I go there for a change.
