Mayor: remove Konddeo statue

Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal on Wednesday urged the civic administration to remove the statue of Dadoji Konddeo from Lal Mahal to avoid any law and order problem.

“The civic administration should initiate steps to avoid law and order problem ahead of the festive season,” said Rajpal in a letter to Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade.

The Mayor said the state government had removed the chapter from school textbooks that says Konddeo was teacher of Chhatrapati Shivaji. The government also cancelled award in the name of Konddeo. Rajpal said that no approval was taken before installing the statue of Konddeo.
