Pune’s Aditya Deshpandey has been nominated for the POGO Amazing Kids Awards 2010 and he is confident of winning
One can almost picture him idolising pianists Lang and Li and aspiring to one day become a renowned concert pianist. Ten-year-old Aditya Deshpandey is on the correct path towards achieving this dream. Aaditya has been nominated from Pune for the POGO Amazing Kid Musician at the POGO Amazing Kids Awards 2010. He is one of 21 children who will then be shortlisted to seven.
Aditya realised and began pursuing his passion at a very young age. I started taking music lessons at the age of seven while living in Houston,Texas, he says. This young talented pianist is very confident of making the cut as his focus is completely on his passion. When asked about how he copes with the attention and pressures of popularity,he simply quips,I don’t think much about it.
Aditya, who dreams of enthralling listeners with his mastery over the piano, says,My studies never stop me from pursuing my hobby,I give enough time to both. That’s the best way to go about it. At times,it can get difficult for children to strike a balance between their studies and their hobbies, but Aaditya doesn’t fall in the bracket. He says,I neither plan when I’m going to practise my music nor do I have a fixed time to study. I just take up either one of them whenever I feel like it.
His spontaneous approach towards music has probably brought the musician in him to the fore. He is all for reality shows that feature children. A kids’ reality show is an opportunity to nurture their skills and it should be viewed only in that light, he says.
It’s not that music is Aditya’s only passion. In his spare time,he likes to play football and he is also an avid reader. I like reading the Harry Potter series, he answers when quizzed about his favourite books. I have seen all the Harry Potter films, but I’m yet to watch the latest one. I’ll catch the film soon! he adds about his favourite literary hero.
Movies and books aside, his current focus is fully on the finals. His eye is on the first prize and when he speaks of it,he exudes confidence and determination: My preparation for the final is on in full swing. I am confident of doing well.
