Jarange Patil's close associates said though the activist was feeling weak, his health has not deteriorated as is being speculated in the media. (File photo)Despite deteriorating health, pro-Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange-Patil refused to take any intravenous fluids or any medical help, even as his indefinite fast unto death entered fourth day on Tuesday.
Jarange Patil’s close associates said though the activist was feeling weak, his health has not deteriorated as is being speculated in the media.
”Forget about taking even a morsel of food, the activist has not even consumed a drop of water. Today he is in the fourth day of his fast. He is feeling weak but is not ready to take any treatment. A medical team is available at the fasting site,” Vijay Tarak, a close associate told The Indian Express.
Jarange-Patil restarted his fast four days ago, demanding implementation of ”sage-soyre” law and rejecting the state government’s 10 per cent reservation for the Maratha community.
Meanwhile, the Sakal Maratha Samaj, that has been fighting for Maratha reservation demanded that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharad Pawar should lead the Maratha agitation.
”After the NCP split, Sharad Pawar should lead the Maratha community the way he led Maha Vikas Aghadi. He should immediately rush to Antarwali Saraati and guide Jarange-Patil on how to take the Maratha agitation forward,” said Kiran Gaykar, coordinator Sakal Maratha Samaj told reporterd in Nashik.
