A lot of work will have to be done in that regard,” said Additional Secretary of the Union Ministry of Education Anandrao Patil.
Addressing students at the PARAKH NCERT workshop for State Board school teachers at YASHADA in Pune, Patil discussed statistics and ways of improving school education.
Patil said that the Ministry is attempting to set up a separate E-Vidya TV channel in Marathi. The Union Ministry of Education has made 200 DTH educational channels available on television. These include an E-Vidya channel for Tamil, a language with classical status. Now that Marathi has been given classical status, Patil said that the Ministry is trying to start a separate channel for Marathi as well.
Vidya Samiksha Kendras, state level centres for tracking student enrolment, progress in their learning levels, out-of-school children mainstreamed, textbook delivery, support required by teachers and schools, etc, will be game changers in India, remarked Patil.
He said, “Vidya Samiksha Kendra is going to be a game changer in the country’s education system. Thorough analysis of the education statistics are done at these centres. Although Tamil Nadu has opposed the National Education Policy, they have built good Vidya Samiksha Kendras. Madhya Pradesh is doing good work in education. Exams like Olympiads are analyzed meticulously. Therefore, Madhya Pradesh might be seen at the forefront of education in the coming time.
