The Lufthansa Passenger Airline Group has decided to raise frequencies of flight operations and add more flights from all seven Indian cities it is operating from. As part of this,the Pune-Frankfurt flight,which is currently flying three days a week,would now fly for four days.
The flight that was departing from Pune to Frankfurt on Tuesday,Friday and Sunday would now also depart on Saturday at 5.35 am. Arrival time from Frankfurt will be 4.25 am. The new schedule will be operational from October 29,2010.
In March this year,Lufthansa,which has a business class seating capacity of 56 in its Boeing 737-800s,increased its seating capacity to 92 seats of which 32 were business class. During this time,frequency of the service was also reduced from six days a week to thrice a week as per the summer schedule.
Lufthansa Passenger Group airlines (Lufthansa,SWISS and Austrian ) together are offering 75 weekly flights in the upcoming winter flight schedule to India. By improving connectivity from Indias key gateways to four European hubs,our airline group supports the needs of Indias growing need for international mobility, said Axel Hilgers,Lufthansas South Asia Director.
Apart from increasing the frequency of the Pune flight,Lufthansa Airlines,Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and Austrian Airlines,which are part of Lufthansa Passenger Airline Group,will offer additional flights from seven Indian destinations to Frankfurt,Munich,Zurich and Vienna,with a total of 78 weekly frequencies. In addition,the carrier will also deploy a larger A340-600 aircraft on its Chennai-Frankfurt route.
Lufthansa is also modernising its existing fleet with 13 billion euros worth of new aircraft and is introducing the internet service,Flynet on its international route network.
