Married couples often seek tips to spice up their sexual life but these days, there is a wide range of people seeking advice, say clinical sexologists here. Thats why sex therapists have a lot on their hands right from planning honeymoon packages on a fulfilling sex life for newlyweds to advising live-in couples on increasing emotional intimacy.
Of late, doctors, have felt an increasing need for communicating with patients on the subject and experts have been organising special programmes on sexual medicine and sex counselling.
A similar course has been planned on April 3 by Dr Shirish Patwardhan, president of the Association of Maharashtra Society for Gynaecologists, who says,We want to tell couples how to enhance their sexual life, says Patwardhan and adds,Couples will be taught to be sexually fit.
The focus will not be on sexually transmitted diseases but salvation through physical intimacy in a monogamous relationship,he says.
On April 11,a certificate course on sexual medicine will be conducted by Dr Vivek Billampelli,Dr Shantanu Abhyankar, besides Patwardhan for medicos. Clinical sexologist Dr Shashank Samak who has conducted over 300 programmes on sexual fitness for, newlyweds, couples above 40 and teenagers, says scouples seek consultations prior to honeymoon.
The aim is to be sexually fit, says Samak who helps couples develop sexuality and intimacy. There are people coming in from rural areas too and they talk of problems in their sexual life, says Samak.
