Konkan Glimpses

Watercolour paintings of the winding lanes of Konkan villages,fishermen on their boats and tiled roofs surrounded by coconut trees are among the many works that artist Mohan Jadhav will exhibit at Darpan Art Gallery from April 10 to 16.

Watercolour paintings of the winding lanes of Konkan villages,fishermen on their boats and tiled roofs surrounded by coconut trees are among the many works that artist Mohan Jadhav will exhibit at Darpan Art Gallery from April 10 to 16. Giving the vibrant paintings a natural touch,Jadhav has used the soil and sand of the particular places he has portrayed. He says this is the second of a three-part exhibition on life in the Konkan belt including Dapoli,Harne Port,Dabhol,Asud,Buroundi and Alibag. He will also exhibit a series on Nandi bull,with coloured horns and bells hanging around his neck. The exhibition will be open from 11am to 8 pm.

Rock High

Parvaaz,a Bangalore-based rock band,will perform at High Spirits Cafe on April 12. Comprising Khalid Ahamed (vocals),Kashif Iqbal (guitar),Fidel D’Souza (bass) and Sachin Banandur (drums and percussion),the band was formed in 2010. They have recently released their debut EP Behosh and a single called Khufiya dastaan. The band is now working on its debut LP. The performance will begin at 8.30 pm.

Splits Will

Ash Chandler and The Ministry of Schtick will host an evening of “serious comedy” in the city. They will perform at Oak Lounge on April 10 and Sen5es on April 11. Apart from being India’s first English stand-up comedian,Chandler is also a singer,actor and composer. His latest brainchild,The Ministry of Schtick,features comics Anubab Pal,Neville Shah,Varun Thakur,Raunak Rajani and Rohit Shankar. They are the first Indian act to be featured on Comedy Central.
