(Express File Photo)Targeting Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis yet again, Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil on Friday saif that if vehicles of agitators are not allowed to enter Mumbai after January 20, then all those vehicles will be parked in front of the BJP leader’s residence.
Jarange had said that he will hold a fast-unto-death in Mumbai after January 20.
Speaking to reporters in Antarwali-Saraati in Jalna district, the activist said, “If the vehicles are blocked, how will the agitators carry their luggage, their food item ? The agitators will make their vehicles like tractors their home. Along with tractors, their will be trolleys. All the personal belongings will be kept in the trolleys. Our agitators will sleep in the trolleys. No one will give us accommodation…Even if we get accommodation, crores of agitators will be difficult to accommodate.”
The quota activist has been targeting Fadnavis since the September 1 police assault on agitators and villagers in Antarwaali-Saraati. Fadnavis on his part has refused to meet Jarange-Patil, who has been seen as soft on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Warning not to stop vehicles of agitators, Jarange-Patil said,”If the government stops our vehicles from entering Mumbai, files cases and seizes the vehicles, then we will see what to do. No one should be scared… I request all Maratha brothers not to be afraid of anyone. No one’s vehicle will be seized. If our vehicles are blocked, all agitators will then go and sit before the residence of Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis. We will hold agitation in front of his residence. Crores will sit on agitation there and no one will move,” he said.
Jarange Patil added that they will get the necessary permission for the fast-unto death.
“This agitation will be peaceful and will follow democratic principles. If we don’t get permission, then it means there is no democracy and rule of law in this country,” he said.
The Maratha leader said a delegation has gone to Mumbai to inspect the site for agitation. “In view of the fact that crores will descend in Mumbai, we will need several grounds… I request Maratha community to sink their differences and come together for the sake of reservation,” he said.
On January 20, Jarange-Patil and other agitators will march towards Mumbai from Antarwali-Saraati. They will pass through Jalna, Beed, Ahmednagar, Pune and then reach Azad Maidan in Mumbai. They will take four-five days to reach Mumbai.
