The month-long drive carried out by the Department of Public Distribution System has completed the scrutiny of 80 per cent documents in rural areas.

“The bogus ration cards will be cancelled after the scrutiny,” said district supply officer Ravi Kulkarni. “There are many who access groceries through the public distribution system without ration cards. We are cross-checking the cards,residence and the quantity accessed.”

The reports will be out by February 28.

DIVISIONAL Commissioner of Pune and chairman of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dilip Band took charge as the managing director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) on Tuesday. However,the PMPML administration is yet to get the formal copy of the order from the state.

Talking to The Indian Express,Band said,“The Centre had directed the state government to appoint the RTA chairman in Pune as the PMPML chief. So,this appointment seems to be a fallout… As the chief of PMPML,my focus will be on the BRT route.”
