Traffic changes at Good Luck Chowk
Vehicles coming from Garware Bridge towards Good Luck Chowk in Deccan area would not be allowed to take a left turn towards Bhandarkar Road from Friday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Manoj Patil said the changes in traffic have been made for the construction of an underground pedestrian way the crowded Good Luck chowk. Work on the underground pedestrian way the crowded Good Luck chowk would begin soon. To avoid traffic congestion,the vehicles wanting to take a left turn towards Bhandarkar Road should take their way through the lane near Champion Sport Club,in front of the Hong Kong Lane.Patil has appealed the citizens to take note of the changes and co-operate with the traffic police by using alternative roads,said a press note.

Chain snatched
AN elderly couple was injured in a chain-snatching incident at Wanavdi on Thursday afternoon. Padmaja Bansod (62),a resident of Shriram society in Kothrud,lodged a police complaint.
According to the Wanavdi police,Padmaja and her husband Narhari had were returning from a family member’s house at around 1.30 pm on a two-wheeler when two persons on a motorcycle overtook and intercepted their two-wheeler. One of them snatched the Rs 40,00-gold chain from Padmaja’s neck forcefully,causing the elderly couple to fall down. Both Padmaja and her husband were injured. They were taken to a hospital and discharged after treatment.

Degrees for prisoners
A TOTAL of 40 prisoners in jails in Pune,Nashik,Thane,Paithan,and Nagpur would be conferred degrees at the 16th convocation ceremony of Yashwantrao Chavan Open University on January 20. “There will be 40 prisoners,including five women,among the 51,542 students who will be given degree certificates,” said Prakash Atkare,Controller of Examinations of the university.
